The Wayfarer's Creed

What happened?

Posted on: 24 October 2007

Well, you may have wondered what happened to my planned postings.  I decided that the topic of alternative sexualities was just not something that I could in this sort of setting at the moment.  I have been doing a lot of reading, though.  So I figured I’d give a list of the books that I’ve read, recommend a few.

Recommended to Read

  • Prayers for Bobby: A Mother’s Coming to terms with the Suicide of her Gay Son – Leroy Aarons
  • Stranger at the Gate: To be Gay and Christian in America – Mel White
  • More than Welcoming: Learning to Embrace Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Persons in the Church – Maurine C. Waun
  • Homosexuality: The Use of Scientific Research in the Church’s Moral Debate – Stanton L. Jones, Mark A. Yarhouse
  • Homosexuality – Auriana Ojeda
  • A Question of Truth: Christianity and Homosexuality – Gareth Moore OP

Not So Recommended

  • Out of Order: Homosexuality in the Bible and the Ancient Near East – Donald J. Wold
  • The Gay Church – Ronald M. Enroth, Gerald E. Jamison

Planning to Read

  • The Good Book: Reading the Bible with Mind and Heart – Peter J. Gomes
  • The Bible and Homosexual Practice: Texts and Hermeneutics – Robert A.J. Gagnon
  • Prayer Warriors – Stuart Howell Miller

Anyway, the pro-gay literature I have found to be much more appealing because the anti-gay literature often seems to be so full of ignorance and hate.  And you’ll find that most of the recommended books to have a pro-gay viewpoint.  It’s so hard to find books with a balanced viewpoint so if anybody knows of any please feel free to leave a recommendation.
